Oil for Genset
my genset is a power tech 8000 with kubota d1105 3-cylinder engine. according to user's manual, the oil must meet API CC/CD/CE but those are obsolete. It also said to use sae30 or 10W30 or 10W40.
knowing it burns diesel fuel, i drop 10w40 out of the list as it is not designed for diesel engines (?). sae30 is a conventional and 10w30 (delo 400xle) is a syn blend. am i right to use 10w30 for it? appreciate your advice.

Personally ; I'd think that the 10w40 would be a miss-print , maybe should be 15w40, also in hotter climates 10w30 ;even those rated for diesel use; would be questionable for long term ( continuous ) use.
If your in a situation where you wouldn't be starting the gen set at temps below 40f, I'd use 15w40.
EDIT: Second thought; I always have second thoughts.
My Onan manual , 7500w 3 cylinder diesel ( no maker brand ) lists a host of oil viscosities, 30w , 10/30 etc. & 15w40 for temps from 10f to 100f+
10w30& 10w40 are listed , from 0f to 100 f, tops.
JMHO: 15w40 same oil as the chassis engine.

Same here. The diesel gen gets the same oil as the Cummins.

I wouldn't overthink it. Like the others here, I use the same as the coach diesel. Makes shopping & storage easier.
