Oil in the generator air filter housing

My wife fired up the Generac in my 2001 National and blue and gray smoke was everywhere she told me. I checked it out and found oil in the air filter housing. Maybe from the breather tube. What might cause this all of the sudden?

#1 crankcase over filled. #2 generator operated with the coach way off level. #3 dissembler oils causing foaming. #4 air filter stopped up causing too much suction on the vent pipe.

It is not uncommon to see a little oil film in the housing, but any more indicates a problem. Start checking the above mentioned items.

Blue smoke is from burning oil during combustion. You probably should pull the spark plug and check it for fouling as well.

Years ago we had an old Plymouth with oil around the air filter and were told that the air filter was dirty and causing suction. That is a cheep fix to try first.
