oil on PS front hub Cap

I have a 2011 Tiffin Phaeton that has oil on the PS Front Hub Cap. I have taken a photo with the center hub cap removed. There is a blue plastic cover in the center that states to read the instructions. Tiffin did not include any instructions. What do I need to do next?

The hubs are filled with oil to lubricate them, in lieu of grease. There is a port in your photo where you can check the oil level. Generally they take little to no maintenance other than verifying the proper oil level.

Depending on how much oil you are seeing you may have a slight leak, but I doubt it.

Check your Freightliner manual (if it's a FL chassis), or the chassis manufacturer's manual. There should be some reference on the oil-filled front hubs and what maintenance they may require.

On my rig, I remove that blue/green plastic cover and underneath is a sight guage for the oil level in the hubs.

Pulls off with a little pressure on one side. It will say oil level on the plastic ring that the plug snaps into, fill to that level as to full will cause leakage. Also in the center of the plug is a very small vent hole make sure it is not pluged, straighten a paper clip and run through the hole if you can't see daylight through it.

Send a message via ICQ to Fred and Bonnie
If this hub is similiar to others, just don't remove the knurled nut plug to service the hub, that is for draining only. The hole in the center should prevent you from overservicing the hub.
