Oil presser guage.

Hi to all.
I have a 1997 36' Dolphin M.H. with a Chevy engine.
My problem is that my oil presser gage goes all the way up almost to the peg when I drive 65 miles an hour, (I tow a car) but when I slow down going through town it drops to just a little over half way.
It just started 5 months ago and I haven't driven it scents.
I had changed the oil and there was plenty of oil in the engine.
Any one have an idea as to what would be the problem?
Just a thought would like to know.

So what's the problem? Sounds like everything is working right.

Install a mechanical gauge temporarily to verify the dash gauge, or install it permanently and abandon the original one. (I much prefer full sweep mechanical gauges in the first place)

Oil pressure gauges really do nothing, you'll know when you loose pressure by all the knocking and banging the engine will do. By the time the gauge gets low enough to tell there is a problem the damage is already done. As posted above it should go up with rpms and go lower at idle.
