Older New Tires - What to Expect/Do?

Hello All,

I'm trying to buy 4 Toyo 265/75R22.5 M154 tires for my Discovery and the freshest tires I can find are Sept '13 DOTs. Yet I read here and elsewhere that one shouldn't accept anything that isn't older than 3 months.

Is my experience atypical (Oklahoma City, OK)? If not, should I accept these 7 month old tires, or find another brand? What brand would have the 'freshest' tires (replacing Michelin 255/70R22.5)?

Not really the most common size , I know , mine are slightly odd too.
JMHO. 7 months not a problem , I would balk at anything over a year.

I wouldn't be concerned at all in new tires only seven months old. I really only check the year when buying myself. As long as they are within the last year or so, I am good with it.

When you consider that most rv tires with proper care will run 10 years without problems, although most will be replaced in 7 or 8, seven months won't matter much.

It depends on where you buy them and the size of store/warehouse they have. I couldn't get Toyo's where I bought my coach and bought Hancooks instead. Best date I could get was Week 21 of 2013. They are brand new and stored inside in a warehouse so I'm not concerned. They haven't been sitting in the sun or heat.

My preference is to buy American or Japanese tires of a recognized brand.

You've put my fears to rest so I pulled the trigger on 4 M154 265/75R22.5 tires with DOT code 3513 (last week of Aug). They were the freshest I could find through several dealers in two states plus TreadDepot.com
