Smile ONAN 4000 Gen.

I was in need of a Prime/Start switch located on my Onan 4000 generator installed in my 2001 Pace Arrow. The paddle was missing. I removed the switch using a screwdriver. The information on the switch said, Carlingswitch, V801, 9939, Mexico, V8D1, 20A, 12V. With that information I tried looking for this part online. No luck so I contacted Carling by email giving all that information and it's dimentions asking if they carried such a part. Ernie Olson returned my email, ernieolson@carlingtech.com. Ernie asked that I send him pictures of my switch so he could better identify it. I did so and he answered back it was a V8D1A60B-AEC00-000 and it was carried by their distributors, onlinecomponets.com and Allied Electronics. I went to their web sites and found the part ok but beside the $13 cost of the part and the $5 shipping they wanted and additional $50 because I only was going to order one. I turned to good old Ebay and using the part number Earnie gave me found the part at a total cost of $11.71 incl. shipping. So, if you are looking for this part I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks for the contact info on Carling, Excellent customer service.

When I added switches to my instrument panel, I found that Daystar made a switch that looked identical, AND Mouser Electronics handled a small selection of the Carling switches.

AND, of course - my Favorite RV supply place that you mentioned - E-Bay.

2001 Coachmen Mirada (Ford F53 6.8L V10) - Toad 2003 Saturn Vue.
It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

I find the best way sometimes is to go to the source. I have had really good luck going straight to Onan, they have very helpful people they will get you what you need. I don't know about prices but I needed a fuel filter now as my filter had cracked on a trip coast to coast and I tried NAPA spent half an hour looking for a similar part and not luck. Called Onan and they had it shipped to the campground I was going to be at. Another thing is always use Google first don't waste time calling around. Its amazing what you can find out there.
