Onan 7500 KW starting issue

I tried searching the threads for information on this but was unable to locate it. It's probably there but I'm challenged at times.

Since acquiring the MH starting the genset has been hit or miss. Sometimes while inside the coach it will start by using either the switch on the dash or the main switch console panel. Usually to start it I have to go outside and hit the manual start switch where the breakers are for the unit. When you push the button I hear the click priming the Genset, I can hold it for minutes to no avail. Then the next 5 times you push the start button it turns over. Today I tried starting it and I got the click but it never once tried to turn it over.

What am I looking for here to resolve and trouble shoot this?

You have a ground wire loose in that unit. You need to tighten all grounds from the front of the MH to the rear. That genset has 2 grounds at the unit. If it were the circuit board it would not crank at all

I had similar problems twice, a year or so apart -- once it was a loose ground, as the previous poster said (fixed by Cummins/Onan in Elkhart under warranty), the other was a relay that had failed, and needed to be replaced (fixed by a dealer).

I might have discovered the first, had I known what to look for, but would never have found the second. Sometimes it's just worth it to pay an expert (if you can find one).

I agree, first check the grounds. I'm not familiar with your unit, but look for heavy black cables from the unit's frame to the frame of the coach. Remove, clean well, replace and tighten well.
