Onan 7500 won't run - replacing fuel filter & pump - Help!

I have a Onan cummins 7500 w/595 hours that has sat over winter, and now won't run w/any type of load on it. Getting error 36, spoke w/local cummins shop and they suggest replace fuel filter, and then pump.

Are there any instructional links out there to replace the pump? The filter looks fairly straight forward.

It's in a Monaco Camelot, luckily the genset almost slides completely out giving me good access.. any help appreciated, headed to cummins now to pick up the parts!

Were you low on fuel, most tanks have the generator pick up tube higher so that it will run out of fuel before the engine does.

If you have a full tank of fuel try holding the prime button down for 1 minute.

Occasionally, if it has sat for a while. my generator will start then cut out after a load is put on it. The cure that I've found is to hold the prime button down.

Fuel filter isn't hard to change, has your's been changed recently or at all? If not change it and see if that helps.

The fuel pump itself is located down stream of the fuel filter, follow the lines.

Just an update, it was the fuel pump - generator would start up and run at idle, or very low draw (5 amp or less) then sputter and die. I changed it at 11pm in the dark, w/a headlamp flashlight, and couple hand tools - $80 from cummins dealer locally.

Just thought I'd pass it along
