Hello everyone .I am having a problem with the gas coming to the generator. I ran a gas line from a small gas can to the fuel pump to be sure it wasnt the fuel pump. Its runs great. I have look thur the manual for the location of a filter.but I don not see one. I have trace the gas line from the gen..Any suggestions? Has anyone ever install a auxiliary tank for their gen.

I have a 1999 36' Bounder.

Is there possibly an inline filter that you may have overlooked along the way or taken gas line off and run air through it for a blockage?

Or the gas level is below the pickup point for the genset

Most generators get fuel from the main tank. The manufacturer "plumbs" the line in where the generator will run out of fuel with about 1/4 level in the tank. This protects you from running out of gas while boondocking.

Pull the line off at the fuel pump and put low air pressure through it. Can you hear air leaking anywhere, bubbles in the tank or just air?

The fuel pickup in the main fuel tank may be clogged with crud. Try blowing air through the fuel line from the generator end and then re-connect it to the fuel pump and see if it will run OK. It's worth a try.

As Doc indicated, the fuel pickup for the generator in the MH's fuel tank is usually 1/4 to 1/3 off the bottom. This protects you from running out of fuel for the MH when camped and running the generator.

If your coach is level, make sure you have at least 1/3 tank. If you do, then you have a blockage or more likely a cracked/broken line and it's sucking air. If you have a fuel filter, it should be very near the generator, not far from the pump.

On our old 92 Allegro the rubber fuel line on top of the tank was cracked. Had to drop the tank to replace. Lucky I have a motorcycle lift and was able to drop the main fuel tank and replace the line in less than an hour.

The way I found out was to detach the fuel line at the genset and use a vacuum pump (used for bleeding brakes) to pull fuel from the tank. Since it was very hard to pull fuel and when I did get a fuel flow there were bubbles that told me I had a bad line.

You won't find the filter in the generator docs - it is typically part of the external fuel supply done by the RV manufacturer.

A common cause of your problem is an old, cracked fuel line. It leaks in a bit of air when under suction from the pump, but doesn't drip fuel when the genset is off.
