Onan Generator - HELP!!!

I have a gas powered Onan 5.5 generator in my RV. The RV has sat for almost a year and now Im having a hard time getting it started. I drained the fuel bowl, confirmed spark, replaced air filter, and topped off the oil. After priming for 30 seconds the Gen will start and run for a few seconds before stalling out. The troubleshooting guide in the manual is a code 37 "Invalid GENSET configuration" (wrong frequency/rpm ratio)????? Can anyone shed some light on what my problem might be....

First you need over a 1/4 tank of gas to run your gen set so it won't strand you running the tank dry. Second, your carb may be gummed up with varnish from sitting so long. It runs until it empties the float bowl then starves for gas meaning your float valve could be gummed up. Finally, stale gas can cause running problems as well. Additional info:

There may be better info out there but I'd need you model number to find it..

I added 20 gallons to top it off last Friday and drove 200 miles. How much old, stale, fuel would the GENSET fuel pick up tube hold? I drained some, maybe a 1/2 cup. Varnish in the carb is a possibility. Can you clean the carb installed with any kind of spray cleaner? The model # is Onan 5.5HGJAB-1038C. I reconfirmed the error code and it's a 36 not a 37. 36 deals with gas, spark, air cleaner, all of which I have confirmed. I'll check out the two links you sent. If you come up with anything else let me know. Thanks!

Did you remove needle valve to drain float bowl, if so did you put the correct number of turns back. The float could also be stuck.
