Onan started on its own??

We are plugged into 50 amp service watching TV this morning and out of the blue the Onan starts up. We have had coach for 2 years and never had this happen nor ever set it to auto start! The Onan Energy Command 30 box in front cabinet says Manuel !

Any ideas on why it started? ...what started it?

I don't have " auto start " so I'm guessing here. Any chance that the coach batteries are low on charge? Converter not working correctly and the gen set fired up to charge the batteries, I know that being set to manual should override that function but could be worth checking. Also are you in , or have you been in , a heavy rain situation where water may have got to a control board or connections?

I don't have the details but have read about others with the same problem. I believe the root cause was moisture in the control cable connection at the generator. Suggest you search IRV2 for past posts and the corrective solution. Very unlikely that it was caused by the EC-30.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago at a campground in Florida, went for a hike and came back a couiple of hours later to find the generator running. Now we had not had any rain for several days so I don't believe moisture in the connections was a problem and I don't have auto-start so I am still scratching my head as to why. I have left a note with the owner of my storage yard how to shut the gen. off if it happens while parked there.

On a side note the love bugs were out in force that week-end and literally were covering the MH when we got back and discovered the gen. runnng. 30 minutes after shutting it off they were all gone.

We too have experienced the ghostly started generator. No rain (moisture) and we do not have AGS.

Huntnski,
You have your answer,. The AGS told you that Manuel did it.
