Opinion's please, Thor vs Holiday Rambler

Looking at a Thor Ace and a Holiday Rambler alumi lite. I realize the Thor is low end[entry level] coach but know nothing of the Holiday. We now have a Damon daybreak so I am sure either is a upgrade, but have had a great time and very little trouble with the daybreak and would buy it again. What is the quality difference between the Thor and the Holiday?

We owned two HR motorhomes over the course of 15 years and although we've moved onto other brands we still have fond memories of our HRs.

I came really close to buying an ACE, but when the DW said she had a bad feeling, we kept looking. Jayco makes the Allante and the Entegra Vision. I would give them a look, Iíve been very pleased with my Vision 31V. The Thorís bulls quality is just lacking a great deal compared to other brands of similar cost and layouts. Iím glad I chose the Entegra Vision over the Thor ACE, and the cost difference was maybe 2-3K..

A friend had an Ace. The kitchen cabinet was so badly racked the drawers didnít line up or stay closed. Cabinet was replaced and was almost as bad. She sold it after 2 years at a great loss just to get rid of it.

I looked at a fellow camper's Ace and again at one at the Detroit RV show.
I was underwhelmed.

I've never owned either, but from all I read I would choose the HR without blinking an eye!

Not sure of what years you are looking. Has HR made the Alumi lite since 2012?

You can buy a new ACE for a little more than a 2012 HR. Comparing apples to oranges though..

Just remember - everybody bust Thor's chops because they are the biggest. they own over 48% of North American market. They make a lot of the "lower end" units for a reason - it's what some can afford. They are going to own 48% of the issues also..... Sometimes you do get what you pay for relatively speaking....

Thor bought Damon who made the Daybreak. If you check, you can probably find a similar more updated model.

Thanks for all the input. The ACE was in very good shape and had full body paint and the upholstery was in excellent shape. I do not know why but I am seeing a LOT f 2011 thru 2013 that the vinyl is all blistered and peeling. Who ever supplied fabrics those years must have had real crap. I asked the sales person who has the HR about it and he confirmed that those years had problems. The Holiday Rambler I am looking at only is a 2013 and only has 1700 miles and the cushions all need to be redone or replaced.

If you type Thor ACE in the search box at the top of the page you will have enough reading material to keep busy for quite a while. The decision is subjective and to each his own.

Let me start by saying I don't have an ACE so I can't give you first hand advise.

This is a video that was posted, so if you do proceed make sure you take a good hard look before paying and driving off dealer lot.
