Options to two piece stove cover

We bought an '02 Expedition several months ago and have been full-timing ever since. While we've acclimated to motorhome living just fine, there's one thing that I'm having a hard time with. Namely, this ridiculous 2 piece stove cover. I'm sure many of you have had the same problem where the leading edge has no support so the lightest of pressure on it flips the back end up. After launching a root beer float yesterday I've had it and am looking for suitable options. Before coming up with one of my own I'd like to see if any of you have successfully dealt with this same situation.

My covers are supported on all sides.

But we still lay a nice large cutting board on the stove covers so any spills dont get between the joints.

I suggest a nice large , thin cutting board overlapping the edges.

Good luck.

We have an aluminum serving tray my wife found at a $1.00 store we place on the stove top cover. She uses a sheet of foam between the tray and the cover to prevent scratching the cover. We store the tray under the sink when we are traveling.

We ditched the 2 piece metal cover and bought a white composite cutting board that takes up the top of the stove. On the lower side, I screwed on four small rubber bumpers that are spaced to lie between the grillwork above the burners to keep it from sliding. When we want to use the stove the cutting board stands on edge behind the stove.

We got rid of the two piece folding metal cover on our stove and use a wooden cutting board with a rubberized back something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Accents...81691658&psc=1

Maybe a small short trim piece over seam between the two on right.Could really smooth and blend cotian in. Or cut some scrolling on some wood to match cabinets.
Or tabs on front piece under rear.
Couple stainless dowels just long enough to lock pieces together.
Or something similar to a biscuit joint.

Check out the upgrades made by Mark and Julie at RVLove.com. They had a custom stainless cover made that serves as more than just a cover.

I have exactly the same cover, and have never had trouble with the back edge flipping up. Sorry, but i have to ask: whar are you doing that is putting such a downward force on the front edge? That said, we have a nice big cutting board on top of that area we use for food prep ... move it when we want to use a stove burner...

I have neuropathy in my feet as well as arthritis in my spine. A lot of times I have lean on something to keep my balance and am always forgetting to put my hand further back from the edge.

Ahhh, got it (i am sorry to hear that...). Take the covers off completely maybe and put a big wood cutting board directly on the stovetop? Otherwise have someone fabricate a full size cover to fit(but might be expensive). Possibly even zip tie the two sides together through the hole (but then you are dealing with an awkward thing if you need to remove to use the stove....)

One other thought, on my Newmar the cover is hinged so it folds back out of the way. On the rear piece, there are pins that can be depressed so the entire over can be removed if you want to. Wondering if this would provide a solution? It would allow you to keep your existing cover and just add some hardware.
