Angry our issues with Tiffin Allegro Bus

What can we do to get Tiffin to repair all that is wrong with our 2007 unit and not cause more damage in the process? We were in Red Bay in Nov. 2011 to get repairs done and after 2 weeks and nothing getting done we found out that they lost our paper work and we also found out that they are having issues with the wet bays rotting( thanks to other tiffin owners. Tiffin was keeping that info under their hats) they fixed our wet bay and then put a hole in our holding tank, we found this out way after we left. The stiching on the couch has come undone and they would fix it for $600.00 they charged us for window replacement on the two windows that a driver needs to see side mirrors. We are very frustrated and very disappointed with Mr. Bob Tiffin and HIS products.

A 2007 model is way out of warranty, why go back to the factory if you are not happy with them? Can't you go some where else (dealer) or an RV repair shop to have things fixed?

Well... lets start here....any service department has problems at one time or another. Tiffin's is one of the best around. I wouldn't write them off just yet. Now... did you buy the coach new ? If you did, why didn't you purchase the extended warranty ? All of this stuff would have been covered. Tiffin puts a 10 year structure warranty on the roof floor and sidewalls. If they fixed your wet bay and didn't charge you for it, they honored their warranty. The warranty on the windows, I'm sure, has expired. As far as the stitching on the couch... well, again, I'm sure the warranty has expired. So, to "boil it down to gravy".. for all intents and purposes you have 6 year old coach...NOBODY is going to honor a factory warranty on a coach that age. It sounds like there's sour apples because Tiffin wouldn't fix your 6 year old coach for free. If you bought that coach used, you signed an "As Is" form that says you aknowledge that there is no warranty of any kind from anybody. So my advice to you is, make a list, find a local dealer, get the repairs done, and accept the responsibility for paying for them. Its not Bob Tiffins fault your coach is no longer under warranty.

Since you are out of warrant there is very little you can do to get it repaired unless Mr. Tiffin will step in to get it done. You really have no way to force them to do anything once the warranty expires. Warranties are supposed to repair problems that surface early. Your rig is now 5 years old and 6 model years old.

You may have some recourse on the tank damage if you can prove they damaged the holding tank.

I don't see why you would expect warranty repairs on a 2007 model coach. Now if they dis not perform on work that you paid for, you have a gripe.

Are you serious? Way out of warranty date and you want something for free? Put you big girl panties on and and deal with it. Don't blame Tiffin.

I also see that the repairs were done in Nov. of last year, that's over 7 months ago. Why are you just now complaining about it?

Hi ns34. I see it is your first post so I suppose that welcome to the forum is in order. I do have to wonder if you joined for the sole purpose of bashing Tiffin Motor Homes in general and Bob Tiffin in particular.

As mentioned in the previous post, you have given no information as to when you purchased the coach, the mileage or condition it was in at the time of purchase. Are you saying that the stiching on the couch was a "factory defect" that should be covered long after the warranty has expired. As on '07 coach it is possible that it could have been in service and used since mid 2006. Had you asked, those "other Tiffin owners" that let you know about the wet bay floor problems, could have probably let you know about other persons who would have repaired your sofa at a lot less cost. I had both captain's chairs taken apart and recushioned while in Red Bay for $200.

The wet bay floor issue has not been kept secret. It's been a known problem for several years. Tiffin has stepped up to bat to see that the repairs have been made and changed the design of the wet bays to elliminate the problem in the new coaches. I have the invoice where Tiffin replaced the wet bay floor in my coach over four years after purchase. In the process they discovered a small leak in my fresh water tank that they tried to repair but were not satisfied with the it came out. They replaced the water tank as part of the wet bay repair. It did cost me a trip to Red Bay, a one night stay in a motel, and a couple of lunches at the Piggly Wiggly. The bill from Tiffin for the repairs and new water tank was $0.00. In some instances, Tiffin has made arraignments for these repairs to be made at other locations for the convenience of the MH owner.

I have personally met Bob Tiffin on a couple of occasions and have spoken with him by phone on serveral others. I have always found him to be very pleasant, accomodating, and fair. Not always free, but always fair.

It is frustrating if something gets damaged in the repair process. It can happen at Tiffin. My experience has been that if they break it, they'll fix it. It's still irritating. It not only happens at Tiffin, or on motorhomes, you should have seen what the local dealer did to my GMC pickup on several occasions that I took the truck in for relatively minor warrany repairs. It happans, deal with it and move on.

I was not a happy Tiffin owner but they do go way above when it comes to repairs. I had over 100 issues on a 11 model Phaeton but they were always willing to make repairs. It just wore me out. I would say after 6 years you are on your own. I would call get parts and get out there and get to work making your unit the way you want it.

Ok, Now I am curious. I have a 2005 allegro bay that I purchased about a month ago. Since I bought it used a purchased a good sam platinum warranty to go with it so I have some warranty on quite a few items. What I am curious about is the wet bay issue. What are you talking about exactly ?

We also have an 07 Tiffin (not a bus). The warranty for the windows is clearly stated - a 2007 is out of warranty. I guess I must be naive. I would not dream of asking the manufacturer to fix the stitching on the couch for free on a coach that old. The issue with the bus wet bays has been well known for a long time. The leak in the holding tank is unfortunate. Have you given them a chance to examine it to find the cause and repair it?

Sounds like they screwed up when they lost your paper work, but did you wait two weeks to ask? Bob Tiffin does not walk on water, and everything they do is not perfect, but our experience with Tiffin has been superior in every way.

You might get additional information at TiffinRVNetwork. This is a forum specifically for Tiffin owners. Good luck.

Gemini: The "wet bay" is the compartment that holds the water and waste tanks. There is a problem with the flooring getting wet and deteriorating. Tiffin is warranting them for 8 years. We had ours replaced under warranty in Red Bay last month. They did a very nice job. Call Tiffin and speak with the service techs and they will fill you in on the proceedure. We arrived without an appointment and were taken care of within a few days. Hope this helps.

Call Bob Tiffin. That seems to work for other owners.
