Thanks for sharing your story RndmTraveller! Glad you, your wife and your dog were quick to exit and you (luckily) were out of harms way when the propane tank blew!! I have been dragging my feet on getting another/bigger fire extinguisher. Not any more! Thanks for the wake up call!! Sorry about the loss of your rig.

I will just use this opportunity to add my feelings on Fire Alarms. I have 4 fire alarms in my coach. I am hard of hearing and made sure to buy the linked fire alarms. My 4 alarms link wirelessly with each other. If one detects a fire anywhere in my coach all 4 alarms go off. If I have a fire in the underneath storage that alarm will detect it and set off the alarm in my bedroom section. The more notice you have the more chance you have of getting out safely

Thanks for all the support. I am afraid we won’t get further details on the cause of the fire. I got the impression that the insurance company is not looking for more details. Since they own the coach now, we’ll never know.

We’ll start looking for our next coach in the next months. I don’t think we’re going anywhere anymore this year.

Holy canoli. Now THAT is scary. I had just updated my extinguishers when I read this. But truth be known there's not a whole lot you can do once the fire gets going. It's best to just get away from it. Sort of like when I was in the Air Force working on the flightline. We had to make sure we had an extinguisher nearby. None of us would've thought of using it if an aircraft caught fire while refueling it. We might take a look at it as we were running by, but that's about it.

If the insurance company thought there was any hope of finding the cause, and would be able to prove it, they would. That would give them an opportunity to get what they pay you back from the responsible party. They do have to weigh the probability of being able to do that against the cost of doing so (hiring fire origin specialists and engineers to pinpoint and document the cause - can be very expensive). Now, whether or not you'd ever know they were doing this, or share the results with you, that's another matter.

One can add a big fuse in the battery cable line.

Once the Mag valve covers started, there was no putting it out.

With propane on board, evacuate a very long distance. Google bleve
