Overland Osprey

We own a 2012 Thor Ace 29.1 and are considering trading it for a 2000 40' Overland Osprey with Cat engine. Going backwards 12 years is hard to swallow, but the Osprey has many desired features we don't have (diesel, 2 slides, length, better finishes, etc.). I know Overland is no longer in existence and they were a small manufacturer, but I can't find any recent sales to judge how much the Overland is really worth in today's market. The suggested retail (which means little, I know) was $316,000 with all of their options. Assuming the coach checks out, anyone have a value guess?

frEEK,

I am GRZLY 03 in Temecula CA. We purchased our 1998 Overland Lorado last November, and the old posts are in my rear view mirror. We have made several medium and short trips in her and WE LOVE HER!!. As a basis for comparison, we have the 8.3l Cummins, and Allison Tx. She had 138k miles when be bought her for $32,500. We put another $10k in new interior (bought the seats, cushions and sofa and installed myself), preventative maintenance, 6 new Sumitomo tires(and a spare), and a few miscellaneous repairs. Or coach looks like the one for sale for $100k in the earlier post, but I believe our interior is in better shape. I am happy to hear from Overland owners and hear their stories, problems and solutions, and would like to keep in touch. Dick Nester, GRZLY03.

Bigprop, sorry addressed my post to wrong person, but wanted to add a couple of things. I believe I am getting about 9 mpg. I have never had it above 1/2 tank to keep the weight down, so am estimating. Also, my basement is heated. I found some original paperwork from original owner, coach sold for a little under $200k. I think the $316k number is sales hype. GRZLY03.

I own a 1996 Overland Osprey.
I would guess the 2000 today is worth around $36,000 depending on condition.

Thanks for posts. Owner wants $72K firm, which isn't too bad with only 25K miles and lots of extras. Problem is technology and interior styling. If I sink another $15K into updates, I'd have a decent coach, but one that's still nearly 14 years old for something that most people have never heard of.

Way too high on the price! Worth about that asking price as posted earlier.

Overland Osprey

I also believe the price is way too high, but it is what it is. Can anyone tell me the differences between the Lorado and the Osprey? And/or post pictures of the Osprey. GRZLY 03

The Osprey is higher end than the Lorado (more slides, higher trim) but I don't think it's worth that much. There's just no market for them so they have to be sold cheap (e.g. a few years ago I was looking at a 98 Lorado but it was being sold for $20k).

I'd see if the owner is willing to negotiate - for $50k it might not be bad.
