What scan tools are available to read and reset DTC codes for both the engine and ABS? 1998 Chevrolet with Vortec engine. Thank you in advance? Looking for aftermarket tool other than GM1 or Snap on.

I have an AutoLink AL301 which works fine on my 2001 Workhorse P32 with Chevy Vortec 9.1L. Bought it on Amazon for $29.00.

It appears this tool only reads codes? I need one to clear them also. Does this tool also clear codes and does it read the ABS?

I think you will find "most" scan tools don't read the ABS codes. The tool the GM / Workhorse dealers use is a "Tech II" and it is VERY expensive.

That is what I was thinking Ed. I have been researching this for some time and was hoping for a miracle. My brother owns a snap on solus. Perhaps I will just pay for his software upgrade to use on my chassis.

Good evening all . I thought I would get back to you all with my tool search status update. I purchased the Cen Tech top model at Harbor Freight (it showed it worked on Med Duty Trucks) but it would not read the P30 chassis.

I found that Innova 3160d claimed to work on the P30 chassis so I bought one on amazon for $219.00. It read the ABS codes (gave numbers 21, 25, 26 and 27) which are actually DTC 1221, 1225 etc. It reads the OBDII codes/PIDs as well. I tried to erase the codes but they will not go away. I have a friend with a GMTechII coming over to see how these compare to his tool. So I am optimistic I have found the tool that works but I need to verify it erases the codes. More to follow.
