89A good enough road for a Class A with a toad? (Not going through the Zion tunnel) .

If you are staying near Kanab, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes Park just west of there is interesting to visit. If you want to get to Zion, you can go north on 89 to 14 west to Cedar City then down to Hurricane. That's a decent route. Also, Antelope Canyon at Page and Bryce Canyon in Utah are sights to see.

BTW, how's the Safe-T-Plus working out for you?

It's working out great! Thanks.

I just realized I asked the wrong question. I was thinking the Zion tunnel was on 89. So I think we will take 89, not 89A to Kanab.

What I should have asked, is how is the road from Kanab to Hurricane? 389 through Colorado City (Polygamousville )?

The tunnel is in Zion Natl Park on Hwy 9 east of Springdale. You definitely don't want to go that way.

89alt and 389 to CC are both decent roads. We stayed near Jacob's Lake in the Kaiab Village RV Park and went from there to Hurricane. It's not a real wide road, but an easy drive. There are a couple of 4-8% grades, but they're not very long.

If you go that way, be sure you stop at the bridge over the Colorado river on 89alt. If they are still there, there was a whole colony of California Condors nesting in the cliffs and hanging around the bridge. They are spectacular to watch.

PM me if you want any more info on the area.

Many years ago we took the tunnel route towing a TT. They shut down the opposite travel lane and told me to stay in the center of the tunnel. A organized ride of about 30 Harleys was sent through behind us. We lowered the windows and enjoyed their sound.

Ah yes, Navajo Bridge. I have a good friend that is a Colorado River Guide and I did a trip with her as her first mate. They consider that bridge the beginning of the Grand Canyon.

Also have drive through the Zion tunnel in a car, that's why I would avoid it in my motorhome.

Thanks for the pointers. Did you know that Colorado City is a bunch of polygamists? That's why the houses there are so big. The look like fraternity houses.

The road between Kanab and Hurricane is great. Go to Kanab, a short jaunt south to Fredonia and then 389 to Hurricane. I use that road quite often in a 39 foot diesel pusher pulling a toad. It is much better and safer than the road going past Jacob's lake.
