I'm not a painter - but I plan to paint my motorcycle carrier.

I have a pint of PPG Omni AU (MAE acrylic enamel). I need to figure out the mix ratio.

The attached PPG tech bulletin says the ratio is 8:1:1 (MAE: hardener: reducer).

So 1 pint of paint would take 2 ounces (1/4 cup) of reducer and 2 ounces of hardner?

That doesn't feel right. Am I reading this correctly (second page of attachment)? Sanity check needed

I've done quite a bit of painting. I'm a hobbyist, but do show quality work on auto restorations. You are correct on the mix ratios. The easiest way to mix paint is with mixing cups that can be purchased where you bought the paint. Grab some stir sticks and strainers while you are there

Generally, stay with the same brand when you purchase hardener and reducer. This will guarantee compatibility..

When I painted my MH, I dealt with TCP Global for my paint and chemicals. You might also look at Eastwood..

Get an MSDS when you get the hardener,this is serious stuff. Isocyanates are not to be treated casually.

The PPG Omni "Acrylic Enamel" paint must be old technology as all the painting forums that discuss this product seem to be from 2010 or earlier.

The recommended reducer and hardner is hard to find. But since I have the paint already (matches my coach base color) so I'm going to use it.
Besides, I'm just painting a motorcycle carrier so its not a substantial paint job.

I looked online (including the link above) and can not find any website/store that carries the Omni the hardener or reducer. However there is a PPG store near me. I will have them provide whatever PPG product or equivalent, to the Omni MR186 reducer and MH202 High Gloss hardener.

I don't know how much area you are painting, but a pint of Acrylic enamel doesn't go very far. You will need to shoot a minimum of 2 coats and maybe three. And yes, AE is old technology, Base coat /clear coat is more user friendly and is more durable. Since you may be buying more paint, you might want to consider BC/CC. I would like to echo comments from Exrench, paint is bad stuff - respirator, tyvec suit, latex gloves. Take care of yourself

Do you think a pint is enough? Just need three light coats (per PPG tech sheet) or until hiding.

Probably not. Probably between a pint and a quart. If you buy another pint, be sure to intermix the two to avoid minor color mix differences. Best to have your second pint mixed in a quart can
