I want to store my 2002 Endeavor diesel with the park brake not engaged since the brake shoes stick occasionally. However the alarm sounds when I try to do this. Does anyone know a good way to silence the alarm? I was thinking about just turning the chassis battery cut off switch to off.

You can usually break loose the stuck (rusted) parking brake by backing up a couple of inches. If you are storing the RV with shore power connected, make sure your battery isolation switch doesn't shut off the converter/charger. There very likely is a fuse that powers the buzzer.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about pulling a fuse. I'll look for it and try that first. I normally exercise the coach every three weeks. The sticking happens only when I leave it in storage a couple is weeks longer than normal without exercise.

I have been able to break it loose by moving the coach but it really bangs. I live southeast of Houston about 30 miles from Galveston so we have high humidity. I think The humidity is what causes the sticking.

You can cage the rear spring brake pots to hold off the rear shoes but I need to ask why? Do the shoes stick to the drums and prevent movement? Are the shoes worn, glazed or soaked with grease, oil? If so I would renew rear shoes. I have left my park brake set for months with no shoe adhesion problems.

Not going to work. As soon as your air tanks bleed down below 60lbs, your parking/emergency brakes are coming on.

STINK described the proper procedure for making sure the parking brake does not engage.

Caging the parking brake spring canister

(utube video) (written procedure) is what must be done prior to towing/moving any vehicle with failed air brakes. NOTE! The very first thing to do is solidly chock the vehicle from moving!

High humidity may be causing the brake drums/rotors to rust. Rust holds the brake lining to the drum/rotor.
If that is not your situation, it can be the air brake linkage at the wheels- if that hasn't been greased on schedule, which would allow the linkage to rust in-place.

I did block the wheels the one time I tried it. I'm pretty sure the alarm continued after the key was pulled but I'll verify that.

The couple of times the brakes stuck was probably when I exercised the coach on a rainy day. I know the last one was. We usually exercise the coach every three weeks by driving about 40 miles. The last time the brakes stuck it had set for about five weeks. I'll make sure the brake shoes are dry before storing and see if that solves the problem. I suspect it will.

Regular lubes have been done

My manual states that "In the event of air loss, while the vehicle is in operation the park brake will automatically apply at approximately 30 psi. It doesn't mention anything about this while in storage.
