Experiencing a problem that we cannot seem to get fixed. We have a 2005 Fleedwood Excursion 39L. The passnger mirror (remote controlled) moves by itself when subject to vibration. It tracks out to the max track right position, and then has to be readjusted back in. While annoying during the day, it becomes very difficult at night with nothing behind you to see.

The dealer can't seem to figure it out. I'm thinking if there is a fuse somewhere I could pull, I could at least determine if it's in the eletrical motor/control portion or the mirror mount itself. I haven't located this, and even if I do, I'm not sure if I can cut power to the mirrors without killing something else that I need.

Has anyone else ever experienced this or is anyone aware of how to fix it? Drivers mirror is fine. It's just the passenger side mirror.

We have a Newmar Essex and I ran a thin line of clear silcone on the bottom of the mirror so the mirror can still move but stopped it from road movement when driving.

I'm not clear on what you did. Were you using the silicon to weight the mirror down? To provide friction between the mirror and the housing? Something else?

Do call Velvac, ask them for a anti vibration kit. Most likely they will tell you they don't have such a kit, they do! It took me nearly 2 months to get a kit out of them. I guess they have to get tired of you calling about it.

Since the mirrors are installed by the house manufacturer, there is a connector accessible under the dash, for ease of installation. While you're looking for a fix, and since this sounds like the mirror is moving because the motor is running, maybe just unplug it after it's set where you want it?

I think Jim is onto a good theory. I would pull the fuse to the mirror circuit, and see if it still moves out while driving. If it does, it is something wrong with the motor/gears in the mirror head. If it does not move, then something is sending voltage to that motor. This will at least help pin down where the problem is located. Let us know what you find. My velvac mirrors do not move.

I did have to repair one of mine due to being sideswiped by a semi, and the motor is small, and the gearing appears to be plastic or nylon.

If you have to order parts, be very sure you order the correct part. Velvac will take parts back, but there is a restocking fee. They will help you identify the correct part.

Let us know what you find.

There should be an adjustment underneath the mirrow head or head support. It will probably have a removable cover over the adjustment screw that will require an allen wrench. You may be able to make this adjustment if it is loose.
