Phaeton Thermostat Control Problems

I have a new 2011 Phaeton 40QTH w/ 3 rooftop units. We are experiencing difficulty with the thermostat consistently reading internal temps and turning on or shutting off the A/C.

Tiffin replaced the RV Comfort.ZC thermostat. It was intermittently dropping zones. The new one doesn't seem to be reading the sensors. We are either stuck in constantly on or won't shut off. The result is that we are either freezing or broiling.

Has anyone else experienced this phenomena?

How to correct it?

All help appreciated.

We have noticed with our two units that one of the Thermostats is on a slide out which is very much affected by the external heat, thus it runs much more and has to be adjusted. I keep the shades closed around this thermostat and it helps somewhat. The other thermostat is on an interior wall in a dark bedroom and does much better.

My thermostat is messed up too. It reads one sensor correctly but, rather than read the second sensor, it uses the temperature at the thermostat. Bottom line, like you, we're either too cold or too hot. The only way I can "regulate" it, is to have a fan blow on the Tstat so it senses the correct air temp. The tech said the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced.

Thanks! I went to TiffinRVNetwork.com per your suggestion and found an answer of sorts.

It appears there is RF interference between the ceiling fan and the sensors for the thermostat. If you attempt to reset the RVComfort.ZC thermostat, make sure the ceiling fan is OFF. Mr. Tiffin said they are aware of a problem between the ceiling fan and the temperature control systems...some kind of interference. He said they will correct it when I visit Red Bay next week.

I performed the reset again with the ceiling fan off and it worked. If I use the ceiling fan, it screws it up.

It is a fan issue and they are changing the fan to fix the issue. New fan does fix it.

Ok, we went to Red Bay (Tiffin Factory Service) and the ran a new shielded cable. It seemed to work, but the place is now a refrigerator.....cooling is working well, but it doesn't shut off when it cools down to the set temperature.

I'll set for 73, and it will hit 66 and just keep cooling.
