Picture Hanging on "wallpapered" walls

I have used the 3-M hooks on the inside of cupboard doors, on the wood walls & in the shower & they don't come off until I take them off. But what about the "wallpapered" walls? What is best to use on these walls? I have reinforced/secured other pictures on the interior wood walls with museum putty, but would that leave a stain on the "wallpapered" wall? (The picture I want to hang is wood framed with glass & is about 12" x 29" and the only place it will fit is on the "wallpapered" living room slide wall.) I don't want any type of fasstner to show when it is hanging as the first view will be from the side. I also have heavy duty velcro, but it, just like the 3-M hangers, also says "don't use on wall paper. Thanks for your help with this - I don't want to do anything that will damage my wall!

I have lots of pictures and clocks hanging on our walls and I use screws through the frames into the wall papered walls.
If you trade in coach when I remove the pictures the holes can be filled in with white wax crayons and hole does not show.

Would you also use this method on a slide wall. from your picture, it appears that this is a regular inside wall. Thanks again for your help.

I used a 3M hook, to hang a very light wall clock on my outside, wall papered wall and it pulled the paper away from the wall. I now have a mess on that spot and will have to leaved the clock there, permanently, just to hide the damage. I suppose that if you used a wood screw, it would only make a small hole, that could be filled. Now I'm sorry that I used the 3M hook.

Velcro, Yes!

We have used industrial strength velcro in our last two RVs. The trick on wallpaper is to first clean where you intend to hang the frame with rubbing alcohol. When it comes time to remove the velcro, heat it with a hair dryer and carefully pull from one corner. If you don't heat it first, it will pull the vinyl off the wallboard. For re-sale, there are no nail holes to worry about. Use frames that are flat on the back as to apply the velcro on the corners of the frame. Good luck.

We use the 3M command strips (velcro version so that a picture can be removed or repositioned easily) for pictures as well as mounting a router to our walls (wallpaper). Haven't had anything fall off in over 40,000 mi of travel...not even when going over I-80 from Sacramento to Nevada.

I used the "museum" or poster putty to hang a framed picture w/glass in the trailer we previously owned, and the picture fell off the wall while we were travelling, and the glass broke everywhere, so I don't recommend it. I have a picture to hang now in our RV on a wallpapered wall, and will probably try either the velcro or 3M. This one doesn't have glass, thank goodness, but it does have a bit of weight. Good luck!

Techie & Wheelingit"

Yup, we've had same problem using the 3M hook type and I've been wondering whether those "Command" strips might be better. The hook type DOES eventually cause the wallpaper to pull away from the wall and as you said, ya got a bubble and a mess. I was hoping those 3M Command (velcro like) might not do this over time if ya attache em to the item ya want to hang over a broader area such as ALL 4 corners of a picture frame etc.

THANKS for your input....guess we'll try em.
