We also chose to buy a well kept coach from a private party who had all the service records. We put money aside for things we new would come up, and have been happy for four years. Good luck shopping. Just be patient as there are many clean used ones for sale.

We bought a 2000 Newmar Dutch Star 6 mos ago and love it! It's also our first RV. We've driving different sizes and types for past many years. But we're really happy with the quality of the Newmar Dutch Star. We plan to go full time in a few years and probably will get a little newer Newmar Dutch Start then. Every campground we go to we have at least one person tell us what quality the Newmar DS is. Good luck!

Hear is a jem from a privet seller who is obsessive about maintaining his coach. They are being forced to sell for health reasons.

When you start comparing, just be sure you are comparing like models, and not the bottom line of one vs the top line of another.

We bought a 2004 Newmar 4011 10yrs old with 30K miles from the original owner. I would never buy a MH from a dealer. It has been a wonderful coach that we pamper and store inside when not on the road just as the original owner did.

I am a big fan of the Spartan chassis with the Cummins (ISL) diesel. I do my own maintenance so I am especially fond of the side mounted radiator. I have owned 2 ea 8.1 liter gassers and there is no comparison with the power and torque of the diesel.

I have never owned a Tiffin or American Coach, but I'm sure they are good equipment. I have a friend with a Tiffin and it is really nice. I'm just not a fan of his rear mounted radiator.

I would suggest that you settle on a brand/floor plan/equipment/model you want and place want ads in your local paper, Craig's list, this forum, etc with your desire to buy. You will be surprised what shows up.
