Plumbing problem

I'm having a problem locating this even my local Campingworld.

Seems they have the tubing but not the flaring.

My question is that is there a tool that does the flaring, if so can you direct me to a site to purchase the tool.
I really do not want to replace all the plumbing. It is actually only the nut that is causing the leak, there is a crack in it.

Any Suggestions

That looks like some type of plastic or PVC tubing or pipe. Is it a water supply pipe? I think the flaring tool that Harbor Freight sells may only work for metal pipe or tubing. Another picture with something else in the picture so we could see what size it is may help. And maybe a photo of what it hooks to would be helpful.

Most flaring tools like I pictured works on copper or plastic. I've used one similar to the HF one on both tubing types. The tubing cutter will work on plastic too, you just have to rotate and tighten the cutter in small increments or you collapse or squash the plastic tubing instead of cut it.

I never tried one on plastic. Do you need to warm the plastic with a hair dryer or heat gun before you try to flare it?

If the plastic tubing is old, I'd try a hair dryer. A heat gun would be too much I think.

Autozone used to have a deal where they would "lend" out flaring tools for a deposit that was roughly the cost of the kit. The thing is you get your money back after using and returning it. You might try them.

With plastic or polyethylene tubing, that type of flare and nut is usually from a compression fitting. Not a flaring tool.

Some Home Depot stores have tool rental. If you can rent you will get a better quality tool to work with then you would likely buy for a one time job. And you can take the project to them for advice before spending any money.

If you take it in, you might be able to get a plumbing supply house to flare the fitting for you, for a nominal price, or maybe even free.

If that's a standard size pipe (1/4 3/8 1/2 or 3/4 od)you could cut the pipe back a couple of inches replace the nut then use a shark bite fitting to repair the pipe. Shark bite fittings are available at Home Depot they just slip onto the pipe very simple to use and can be removed easily if needed for future repairs.

That's exactly the reason I thought a photo of where the pipe hooks up to would good to see. It is possible the connection could be change to a 'shark bite" type fitting and the flare could be eliminated.

Shark bite fittings are for PEX tubing. Since the tubing appears to be gray and your profile shows you have a 93 Winnebago, what you have may not be PEX tubing. On earlier coaches builders did use something else, not sure what it was but believe it was some kind of poly tubing. You may want to check with Winnebago what was used in your coach. I've never seen gray PEX tubing, doesn't mean they don't make it.

Uhh look again shark bites work on any type of pipe that has a standard outer dimension weather it is copper or some kind of plastic as long as it has a smooth outer surface, that's what makes it so popular for the diy.
