Poll: Reason for upgrading to new rv
As I've browsed the forums, I've come across a pattern: many people who have been RVing for a while talk about upgrading/buying new RVs, often while the old RV is just a few years old. I got curious: why are people switching RVs? So I thought I'd ask that question in the form of a poll:
Why did you upgrade to your current RV from your old RV?
1. Wanted more space
2. Wanted to downsize
3. Wanted better fuel economy
4. Wanted a better chassis
5. Wanted that new RV smell (just wanted a brand new RV)
6. Other: please specify
How many opted to remodel instead of buy a new RV, and what did you do?
1. Complete gut job and remodel
2. New cabinets
3. New furniture
4. Reupholstered existing furniture
5. Other: please specify
Thanks in advance to all those participating!

From an Allegro 36LA to a Phaeton 42LH.
1. Wanted more space
4. Wanted better chassis (DP)
Made the mistake of going to an RV show.

In April, this year, we traded our 04 FR Sandpiper and 07 DRW Ford on a 2000 Newmar Mountain Aire 4092 DP. Reason #1. DW's knees were feeling the pain of climbing the 4 steps into the fiver then 4 more into the bed/bath area.
#2. Setup time.
We owed nothing before and nothing now.
It was apparently a good trade. DW is happy and we have had no issues.

Seems like each time we have upgraded it has to do with space. Our first 5er had no storage, and after a long trip we got home with stuff stacked everywhere. So we looked at some new models to see if we could find something with some storage. We did. And after another 11 years, I started seeing new models with actual kitchen prep space. I was tired of trying to prepare dinners in an area of about 18" between the stove and sink. So we searched and found this one. I am happy, currently....

NEEDED more space! Also, had the class C for 17 years and it was time for a change. An opportunity presented itself to buy a really well-cared-for coach and car so I took it.

Upgraded 3 weeks ago from a 98 35' gas A to our "new to us" 03 38' DP. I don't think I would ever go back to gas. I actually had more basement room in the gas as the diesel motor, required filters and tanks take up the back 1/3 of the DP but what a dream to drive.....and the best part, it's paid for!
