If you haven't done it already then open the escape window and see how it works and have you wife open it. Yes, I am in 100% agreement to shut that bedroom door if you are able. As you know from your flying days it is always good to practice, practice and practice so it comes naturally when required.

Yes, my understanding is the recall is not designed to stop the possibility of fire. The problem is a line holding flammable freon may become fatigued and rupture causing fire. I was told the recall consists of a shield to redirect freon if it escapes. The problem still remains that a freon line may become fatigued and crack causing a fire

Thanks John, didn't really know that.
I would update my fridge but that may not be the answer since a lot of newer ones have the same problem. Mine is a Norcold and it is not one of the ones that Norcold recalled. Think I will stick with it.
Another error I make is running the fridge while refueling. No more of that. So the thought process goes on.

Be careful when opening the Emergency window some of them fall off the hanging points when opened. I found this out almost the hard way. My son grabbed it just in time to keep it from hitting the ground. Hope this helps Joe

Thanks JR,
I looked at my hinges and they look very strong. But to be cautious I will watch that when I open it. I will just open the window and hold it when I open the catches.
