I have a really, really long story and wish to post it, is there a word limit for posting?

Most of us don't read the really long paragraphs so keep that in mind

I stopped at really....... sorry just kidding. Anything that is called a "story" will have to be very interesting and still won't get many takers IMO.

FWIW...

On another forum I frequent, I wanted to share a pretty long story..

I used a descriptive title...

I started with "Summary", and put a very condensed version of what I was sharing..

I followed that with "Details", which included the minutiae, although I tried to trim all but the most pertinent info..

I got a lot of reads on it. I have no idea how many people read which parts, but it did have a lot of very good feedback on the topic...

I believe many may have read the "Details" portion, who would have otherwise passed it by due to the length, but had their interest peaked by the "Summary"..

Brake it up into paragraphs or no one will read it.

I don't know what YOU mean by really, really long but, if it's 1, 2 or 3 pages, forget it. People today and especially on forums like this one, don't have nor want to take the time to read it.

This forum like most, people like reading short to the point questions and for the most part give short answers.

So to share your story more in length you could....

Like the other fella suggested—you could write a short summary, but keying in one the highlights and strong points of the story in such a way so that if people are really struck by the content and subject matter, they'll comment that they want to know more. Then you can elaborate more. The story would build as the forum shows interest.

Make sure it's well written and broken up into short paragraphs, maybe with category titles, sections or whatever fits what you're talking about.

Put some very high level summary info in the post, attach a pdf with the details that those that want details can open.

Not true. Most of us love long posts with no paragraphs or punctuation.

Just kidding.

not sure how long "really, really long" is but please make it as concise as possible. I'm going to need a haircut soon and don't want to be too shaggy when I get there.

I've seldom read a long post that couldn't be better stated in 2-4 lines.

So I tend to skip past the long narratives on forums. What you're suggesting sounds like a blog entry.
