Power Gear Jacks

I have Power gear jacks on my MH. They work OK but make a lot of noise. Is this normal or they going out?

Electric or hydraulic?

And by the standards of some yes, they all make a lot of noise. it is, after all a high pressure pump if hydraulic.

My Power Gear jacks made a lot of noise(metal rubbing on metal) right before I had to replace the motor.
My 99 year MH only made it to 2005 before that happen.

The motor isn't sealed good around the top gasket and the motor part was all full of rust from water getting in. I sealed the new motor good with silicon and it is still quiet.

The only thing that should make noise in a PG system is the pump motor running. You will get some noise with the springs extending and retracting but that's normal. Anything other than the motor running and straining a bit as the coach lifts, is not normal.

(1)Does your control panel say "Power Gear"?
(2)Does it power up when turn it on? (It must if it airs down).
(3)You may not be getting power to the pump or a problem with the pump.

I wish you where closer.................I could assist you.
Hey there you go this can be your first road trip, come up here.

Most auto electric shop can rebuild the pump motor. I had mind done 2 years ago for $100.00. Still working great today. Silicone seal around the base to keep the moisture out is a great idea.
