Power Gear Jacks work only when engine is on.

My jacks don’t seem to be getting power unless I start the engine. I turn them on and push one of the buttons, and nothing. This is new. So I tried starting the engine and they work. This has happened the last three times I’ve tried using the jacks. Can’t imagine why starting the engine makes a difference. Anyone ?
Thanks

The engine alternator is assisting the battery voltage, so I'd start checking the power difference with engine Off vs running.

My PowerGear jacks and slides require the engine to be on to work.

Yup - engine running, parking brake set, transmission in Park in order to operate the jacks or slides.

Are you saying the leveling system once worked without having the engine running? Even if it did, it is best to run the engine while leveling. That jack pump/motor draws a considerable amount of current from the electrical system. So it's best to have the extra energy from the alternator to help those batteries out some. Like said above!

On mine, the IGN needs to be in RUN for the Power Gear leveling system to get power. Although having the key in RUN without the engine actually being started will work, I start the engine to provide more power to the leveler pump motor.

This is a link to my Power Gear leveler instructions.

Especially the condition of the batteries = load test, followed by specific gravity testing of each cell. I have seen old battery cable terminals corrode inside and create high resistance.

The jacks on our Mirada require the engine to be running, the transmission in park, and the parking brake set. I think this is pretty much standard.

Mine is like Waiter21 above, I can energize the level system with key in RUN and I usually level up without running the engine. Just a bit quieter for the neighbors.
In your case you're indicating a change, which sounds like the other posters are giving good advice to check battery load capacity. I guess my technique can provide an early warning of battery degradation.....

My new unit 2014 requires engine running. My last unit 2007, didn't need motor running. That turned into a disaster, as power gear faulted out and locked up. Took a few calls to power gear to learn how to reset board. After that I learned my lesson
