Power Gear Level Retract system

1997 Southwind 35'
For the last 6 months all 4 jacks have been extended, resulting in leakage of about 1.5 qts. of fluid. I replaced the fluid in the reservoir. Then I extended the jacks again and retracted them, but the "Do not move coach" red light stayed on. Then I tried to extend them again, and none would go down. Then I turned the ignition off and on, and was able to extend them, but as I was extending the front jacks the warning light turned off. Next, I pushed the Retract button and all the jacks retracted, but the warning red light is still on. If I try to take it out of PARK the alarm sounds.

Double check your fluid level with all jacks retracted. A number of the systems use a reed switch to signal with the jacks are up based on the fluid level in the tank, not enough fluid in the tank and the light will not go off.

Additionally, Power Gear Jacks are to ALWAYS be serviced in the retracted position.

Mine did that when the fluid was low.Check your level again.

I agree with the low fluid answers above. Once you get the fluid level up to the fill mark with the jacks retracted, if you still have the light on verify that the float switch is aligned properly. I've had mine twist slightly due to the mount nut being loose.

i have a 98 discovery.it had much the same problem.turned out the contacts on the solinoids for the pump were corroded and rusted off.replaced them and don't seem to have a problem.
