Power lift for under bed storage area

been dreaming up ideas to convert my manual lift bed storage area into a power system. I was thinking of using two of these?
Linear Actuator - Heavy Duty 12 Volt 12" Stroke : Amazon.com : Automotive

anyone done this or ANY similar ideas out there?

I have been around electrical linear actuators for several years and they are pretty much trouble free and really easy to operate. The ones I personally have seen are a little tricky to set up the start and stop limits but once you understand them and get them set they are the cats meow. New ones may be easier than the ones I dealt with. Your biggest challenge, I think, will be where you put the controls. I have also used the gas powered type as well. They are good but you have to be sure they are located properly to work as they are designed to allow them to lift the load and not run of rod or run out too soon. This my opinion.

If the actuator is inside the bed frame and fails to work, how do you raise the bed in order to repair it?

valid point for sure but there,s two so hope they don't both fail at same time otherwise iam onto plan C
what I think I will do is make a access hole from each side of the bed by the floor
where I can remove a clip and knock out the pins and manually lift up the bed?

thanks for the reply Alan.The controls are just a rocker switch and two relays so I will mount the 2 relays and the rocker switch in one corner of the bed bottom near the top

that is a great question!!

I installed 2 120# gas lifts to raise my full queen (60x80) memory foam mattress with 1/2" plywood support base.

Works perfect, wife raises it with one hand and she is itty bitty. Don't go any less than 2 100# gas lifts, it's not about actual weight it's the leverage angle that requires the extra lift rate.

On second thought the 150 lb lift kit may be a good compromise and way less money etc etcetc

McRvnut......I thought about electric lifts, but too many issues since the bed was in a slide. I also added double pistons, but they tore up the bed frame. Finally, I decided to get serious. I went with double lifts on each side, but added a bar across the bed and welded the lift mounts to the bar. I also added a through bolt (carriage bolt) through the bed platform where the pistons mounted to the underside of the bed.

I don't think the engine would be in a slide-out.

Our new King Aire is hinged about 1/3 out from the wall. Works much better than the one that was in our Cornerstone trying to lift the entire bed and hanging on the window treatments.
