Power step

I have a one step Kwikee power step that I can have set to come out when ever the door is open and fold back in when the door is closed or set to just stay out unless the the coach is in drive.

I noticed that it was folding in even with the door open the other day since I was stepping on it when it folded in. (good times) so I set the switch to stay out all the time. Problem solved....not. So as we are driving down the road we start hearing the step fold out and fold back in over and over. flipping the switch to change modes did nothing.

So I pulled over disconnected it and zipped tied it shut for the rest of the trip.

My question is could the sensor in the door need to be replaced? What would cause the step to malfunction in this way?

The door switch is the first place I would try. To check to see if it's just the adjustment use a hand held magnet.

I agree that the door switch is bad. BUT,I would pull the fuse when traveling so you don't take out the steps.

Sounds more like the control box has gone bad giving the step a mind of its own.
