Ok folks
this morning i watched a newer winnie journey pull in the slides with the engine running
i need this feature on my rig
any ideas where they hid the interlock? I have searched all over and can find no hidding spot, I have a freightshaker frame as he did

thanks

By default: I cannot pull the slides in or extend them with the motor not running.

me either
but this guy did and i like that idea
especially after a long day of driving and the engine needs a bit more idle to cool off some, it would be great to open up
with it running

Since you have A Damon, you might want to ask in the Thor Industries Owner Group where another Tuscany owner is likely to see it. Maybe they have figured it out.

The slides in my American Tradition work with the engine running as long as the park brake is set. Same in my previous coach, a Dolphin LX from National RV.

Sounds like Gary hit the nail. Our Fleetwood Revolution also must have the park brake engaged and the engine running to open or retract the slides.

If you have a Power Gear slide out they want the engine running to insure good voltage. I think it is a wire gage issue (smaller) that they use and need the higher voltage to overcome the voltage drop. For the others that require the engine to be off, most likely a ignition voltage source from the Battery Control Center must not be active in order to operate the slide outs. This was a safety issue; so the rooms could not be activated while driving. If a change is made, I would recommend another safety feature be implemented to prevent this possibility. One might be able to take the previous ignition source to the parking brake circuit if 12 vdc is present when engaged.
One could also have the generator running or still plugged into shore power if your charging system charges the house and chassis battery bank. If not, the boost switch would have to be engaged during slide out operation.

I have Powergear slides. I know they move with the engine off, but I have never tried them with the engine running.

Robert I satrted to leave campsite the other day started coach and forgot that slides wouldn't come in,while running i have not tried putting out while idealling but assume same as yours,I can see your point, but like the idea that i cant make mistake and let slides out when motor running, but if brake was set and motor on might be nise, but I'm not as Young as you.I wish i had your energy and know how and keep posting where you want too!

On our Fleetwood, the motor has to be running as well. It is nice to cool down the engine as mentioned after a long day and this accomplishes that for me.

and folks
yep i think when we get home i will source the cut off , i like wiring it to the parking brake as a good no non sense safety
with 6 slides if i run em all in or out before shore power or the genny is on, it takes a toll on the house batteries, i have two slides that are huge current hogs as they must ride up a ramp to start in, the other four are on rollers because they are not flush floor.
my main concern is after a long day of driving i want the extra time to let the engine do a good cool down, shutting it down and then restarting to cool off sort of kills the effort
I have added a fan that pushed cool air across the engine and down the other side, it seemed to help with the heat soak this last trip, its a high volume low velocity so it helps to push the hot air out of the heat trap at the top of the dog house.
i left home with almost zero goodies
so it will have to wait a few more weeks

I have a Pace Arrow Vision with Power Gear slides and levelers.
The slides work with or without the engine running.... but require that the levelers be deployed and the parking brake on before the slides will move

On our Coachman Epic slides will not operate with the engine running or the park brake off

On my Fleetwood the slide will only work with engine off.

By the time I check in to the campground and then get parked in a site. My engine doesn't need any more cool down time. If yours takes longer to cool down, then you need to have it checked out by a shop to find what is wrong.

And I bet the neighbors probably like it that I shut the engine off, before putting the jacks down & slide out. And not sit there with engine running for more minutes.
