Power Visor - Help

Our MCD power visor suddenly won't go up...it will go down, in fact, I've never seen it come down this much before......have power, and hear the chirp when we push the up button....but it won't go up. Have 50 amp, plenty of power....don't think its the switch, which is on the dash....any one out there had this issue or have any ideas?

Thanks!!

fixn2gocamp,

Ist thing to check is wiring connected in back of rocker switch.
Take off connector and check that wiring entering connector is tight.
Reconnect switch and try again.
There is a second wiring connector by the shade check connections.
Third possibility could be the rocker switch has gone bad so check with RV mfg. for replacement part.

Hi fixn2gocamp,
Because you hear the chirp, the motor is getting power. The clue to the problem is that it extends down farther than you are used to. This has happened to me. For some unknown reason the motor lost it's high and low limit setting. Because of this mine would not go up.

Do you have instructions to reset/set the auto stop for up and down? If so, consider following these instructions. There should be a way to lift one end of the spool out of its bracket. Then the shade can be taken down, until there is time to repair it. The two wires will need to be cut to remove the shade. If you do this make sure you have wire on both ends to make the electric repair. Once out of the coach, the wires can be connected to 12VDC to make adjustments.

The first time it happened I was able to reinstate the high/low auto stop positions. The second time it happened, MCD had to send me a new motor.

Thanks, General, we did remove the trim and check the wires up top, also, the connections to the rocker switch which seemed tight.

GaryKD: We did not get any documentation in "the football" on the power visor. We thought maybe we'd fine something in the actual "manual" but there is nothing. I have emailed MCD and told them I did not have the manual, I'm hoping they can provide one. May try Fleetwood too. We did try and take the shade down, but it wouldn't not let come out, was not aware we had to cut wires to remove it. Luckily, we are not traveling for a few weeks, so we have time to get this fixed. Did go thru Coach-Net and got a referral to a local mechcanic, but he's not coming out until Wednesday. I will have your post for him to review if he seems stumped. HA!! Hopefully, MCD can send me some instructions before then.

Appreciate the help!!

Here's link to download the manual http://www.rvcruzer.com/mcd/Gen4_Manual.pdf
Go to Setting Limits for Dual-Range Switch Motor on page 8 and follow the directions, hopefully that will fix your problem. Make sure you follow the steps in the exact sequence as described.

Bob,
