We are new here, so hoping someone can help us out. We are vacationing with my mother's new to her 2008 Holiday Rambler XL. Whether we are using the holding tank or city water, we get very little water flow to the kitchen sink and toilet, and none to the shower and bathroom sink. We've looked everywhere we can think to see if anything was turned off to no avail. Any other suggestions? Thanks! Melissa

is the fill valve for the water tank/ city inlet in the correct position? on mine if the valve is on "fill tank" I get no pressure just as you are describing.

If you get low flow from the moment you turn the faucet on I would say possible fill tank valve in incorrect position or clogged filter as stated above. IF you got decent flow the first second the faucet is turned on but rapidly decreases to insufficient then I would suspect possibly a defective mixing valve on the back of the water heater. Been there, found that!

Does that make a difference in how to remedy? I'm trying to learn how to fix things and had not heard about the pre or post purchase aspect of diagnosing and correcting problems.

The difference between the two diagnostic techniques is mindset. In pre-purchase diagnostics you know that you can require somebody else to do it or simply walk away. In post-purchase diagnostics you are in for the long haul.

But seriously, I think what the previous post was asking was "Have you ever seen it working correctly?".
If the answer is yes, then the next question would be "What have you changed since then?".

Been having very similar low-flow issues with our houseboat this year, it's water system is identical to any RV water system...

Finally found the problem: When I winterize, I turn off the tank line valve, disconnect the line from the pump, then add a second hose to the pump which goes into the anti-freeze bottle...

When I'm done I leave both lines 'as in' sitting in a plastic basin so no antifreeze can ever get near the water tank line.

But what DID get near the water tank line was a momma spider, and she had the line packed with an egg sack. And they make wonderful flow restrictors...

I'm going with SMRDNR and steveclv - assuming of course it is not a spider.

Since it is low flow on both city and on demand - that pretty much rules out the low city pressure / flow and the whole hole house filter - although you will end up back at the water bay so you can unscrew the fixture - check the filter and even reassemble without the filter for a quick test to see if it's the culprit.

I have a different coach but they are all similar - I'm suggesting unscrewing the white plastic canister (you may have 2) in pic 1 And while you can't see my lever in pic 2 - it should give you an idea of what you're looking for.

Flip the lever up/down (however it moves) and make sure it is in the fully correct position. Not between the two etc.

If that doesn't work, given your circumstance - vacationing and I assume away from moms location and the dealer - you may want to look into a mobil tech. They can be very reasonable price wise. If you're at a RV park the office will likely have a recommendation. They may even take a look. RVers are usually glad to help so maybe ask a neighbor to look.

On my Monaco there is a small clear plastic housing connected to the Shur-Flo
water pump.
Mine is below the fresh water tank inlet.

Also I lost water flow when someone switched (inside, in the hallway) the
'winterizing' on. These are two electric switches which protect your plumbing
during freezing conditions.

One more thing, take the time to remove and clean the aerator (small screen)
on your faucets. Ours plug up with sand.

^^ - if you do find screens are a clogged up with grit - vinegar and an old tooth brush are your friend. Please let us know what you find.

Thanks - think 12Volt explained that pretty well. Any ideas on what their issue might be, one way or the other. They only have the one post and I hope we hear back. It's tough to have a good vacation when water doesn't flow.
