Progressive 50 amp hardwire surge protector

2005 fleetwood expedition moved from portable to hard wire installed under bed where electrical switches are...I have a noticable hum coming from the protector I can hear in the bed room. Is this normal to hear switch hum???? GlenB

Are you sure it's not the Transfer switch. My TS is under the bedroom drawers in my Bounder.

Ours has a hum as well. Same 50 amp unit. Hum is in addition to the transfer switch hum.

Maybe one of you could call PI and ask them. They have great customer support. Let us know if you do.

The hum is from the solenoid that connects/disconnects power when it detects an error. It is normal. Mine is installed in the compartment with the 50 amp shore cord, so I don't hear the noise unless I'm outside by the open compartment door.

I called progressive great folks to support us with questions... He said could be dust on contacts and how to address that.. Asked how it was mounted...in my case on the wood floor under the bed. He said they will hum some and that is louder if not on carpet or rubber. It's not too bad for me but next time I am at our RV dealer Country Roads in Tuscaloosa, Al. A great group of folks!!! I will have them put a rubber strip under it and all is well...tks for help and happy camping!!!

I thought mine was humming because it didn't know the words.
