I use the same thing in the 30 amp version, would not be without it.

Welcome to the forum.
Great idea to pick up one of these babies. Many of us won't plug in without one. Mine is the hardwired version. Be careful to secure it if you use the portable one.

I have to backtrack a bit. I was actually thinking of the generic topic of surge protectors/EMS when I replied. I have a hard wired Surge Guard and not the Progressive Industries product. Members reports seem to favor the Progressive by a wide margin.

Here is a link to the Progressive EMS-HW50C Surge and Voltage protection hardwired for 50V RV. There is download manual and the install looks pretty straight forward.

I just finished installing the hard wired Progressive EMS-HW50C with the remote display in my MH. Got it from Amazon, works good so far at home, see whats happens in an RV park.

Have no 1st hand knowledge of any thefts. Not even any rumors.
A bike lock is a good deterent, wrap it around the power pedestal.
Portable can be placed inside the bay by having a pigtail cable. This way you can take it to the next coach.

Previously used Progressive 30 amp portable and now using 50 amp version. Excellent product and customer service. Well worth the investment.

I installed the 50 amp unit in my electrical bay in front of the switch unit. Rather than cut my shoreline cord for a pieceof cable between the surge guard and switch I went toa electrical supply store and bought an 18 inch piece of cable. I'm not electrically inclined but the instructions and install was relatively easy. It has saved the day several times in the past 7 years.
