My thoughts...When tank was shut off to fill everything switched to battery power and ran that way until on the way home batteries finally went dead and alarm went off. When you turned lp on how much was in the tank?

I am not sure that a water heater on an RV unless modified will run off battery power and most certainly will not run both for 5 days....outside of someone shutting off that valve.....its a mystery. Unless you can duplicate it, I think forgetting about is a good way to go as well.
