Pulling up the old carpet
I have a 2003 DS, model no 4007. The large slide up front has a living room (carpet) and kitchen (linoleum). The kitchen cabinets, sink, and stove are on the slide side. i want to replace the floor with Allure Ultra. You that have done this,,,, do you cut back as far as you can the carpet and linoleum on the slide side, or are you having someone pull the slide and do the whole floor. That is a large slide with a lot of stuff on it. If it is possible to cut the carpet back... i have two rollers that will rest on the carpet when the slide is out,, and it will have to roll on the Allure when closed. Can you do that, or not? Sorry for the basic questions....but i gotta start somewhere. Thanks David

you can cut the carpet close to the slide. go outside under the slide and pull the rubber flap down and you can see the edge of carpet that is stapled down. pry that edge up a little then you can use channel locks and grab the carpet and pull

If you use allure is it ok to as a floating floor or does it need to be glued down if you have a slide? Ernie

In this Newmar slide spec will give info on how to lift slide to work under it.
Here is a other carpet removal job.
Can find more remodeling in QT'# 3 and QT's 1 & 2 links below in my signature.
Good luck and have fun.

Personally, I never use any floating material. If you do, I would attach the edge under the slide. You can contact that edge and you should have no problems.
Even though there is a guide about lifting the slide- personally, I never alter what the factory has installed.

I used Allure in my last coach. No issues with the slide rollers.

Jim, did you pull the carpet from under the side and does the floating Allure move or have any problem when you move the slide in and out. Someone suggested locking the edge of the Allure on the slide side to eliminate any possible roller problem. i certainly appreciate your help! David
