Question for a Michigan RV'er

All,

Well I'm new to RV'ing and new to Michigan. Moving from Ohio. I have a 2000-40' Damon/300cat/Air Brakes..

For Michigan
-do I need a CDL(to drive RV)
-do I need to take an air brake class
-anything else I'm forgetting?

Thanks,
Jim

The Michigan vehicle code is posted on the internet for anyone to see. I'll save you the search and digging. Assming you are not operating or using the vehcile for commercial purposes. No, No, and No.

Michigan is mostly a hands off state. No emissions tests, no CDL for family RVs, permanent trailer plates and tags.

Welcome to Mi!

It is only TTs that get the permanent tags for their RVs. Us MH owners get to pay the license fee every year, based on NEW list price. You are probably in the $4-500 range with yours.

If you're wearing anything with OSU on it, you will need to take the 250 question written test and the 50 mile driving test.

So wear something with U of M on it and it will be a simple transfer

I don't think that would work (wear something with U of M) if he's transferring his license over in LANSING though. DOH!

Just wear a Red Wings T-shirt. You'll be good to go anywhere in the state.

The only requirement is that you display a large "GO BUCKS" sign on your coach on at least 2 places.
