Question for my Refrigerator Knowledgeable Friends...

Having just returned from a 4,700 mile trip to the west coast and back... and spending a great deal of time looking for my "tooth fillings" on the floor after driving I-40 and I-10... and considering the number of residential refrigerators installed in Class A RVs... Does it make sense to turn your residential refrigerator OFF while driving? Just wondering the affect of the washboard interstates on the compressor (if operating) while driving? Appreciate serious comments by refrigeration knowledgeable members. Just wondering...

We've been to Alaska 4 times with residential refrigerators ( 2 in this coach and 2 in 2008 Bus) and have never had a problem. We run the fridge all the time on the road and I'd think the roads we've seen are quite a bit worse than any lower 48 Interstates. By the way, we run I-10 from Mobile to Quartzsite, AZ every year with the same residential refers.

Have driven over 33K miles over some of the worse roads in the US and
Canada with residential ref running. Never turn it off. No problems so far.

The compressor is essentially the only component with moving parts and it's a hermetically sealed durable component that's mounted on vibration isolators. Whether the fridge is energized or not should not make a difference in terms of potential damage.

cheers,
Joopy
