Questions to help with my search

I am retiring soon so my search has begun for a motorhome. I have a park model on a lake in western new york that I will spend a good amount of time at so I will only be using the MH for some traveling 2-3 weeks and 4 -6 weeks in the dead of winter in a warmer climate. So I am looking at used. The max I want to spend is 45 grand. For this price I see 7 year old gas rigs or 15 year old diesel rigs. Im leaning towards the older diesel ones but am concerned with components wearing out etc. The wife likes the newer interior colors and styles and we both like the idea of more than 1 slide we are seeing in the newer gas MH's. I do like the air ride and bigger chassis etc on the diesels, never ridden in one with that type suspension but that is the ones I'm looking at. I can find later model diesels on spartan chassis so am I right in wanting the better Chassis? Has anyone here made similar decisions? Are there anything else i need to consider...

Even though we still work, we're pretty close to those same amounts of usage during our RV-ing season (Apr-Nov). We don't travel enough to warrant the extra cost & maintenance expense of a diesel. That's why we have a gas coach.

Now, if you can do your own maintenance/repairs (we don't have that knowledge/talent so we have to pay to have that done) then the comfortable driving of a diesel would out weigh the non-use times. JMO.

I did own a class c for many years and did alot of my own maintenance...now in my 60's and that limits me to what i can physically do. I didnt like the ride of the C. I worry that a gas A will be much the same as far as the feel on road while driving.
