Quick question about awning tape

I'm currently at the store and saw they carry the awning repair tape.

Question is my awning is torn right 8 inches where the Aluminum cover attaches soon curious if it will bond to both surfaces?

I tried it on my awning at my home, lasted a few days. Gorilla tape might last longer, I have not tried that.

I used some of that tape on a rip on my awning(very close to the end of the material), so far it's going on the third season and it's still hanging in there.

I do believe that the age of the awning repair tape determines whether it will work or not. Carried some for two years, unopened in the package, just in case I ever needed it. This year tried it on my awning at home. Wouldn't even stick to put it on. Gorilla tape may be the answer if my wife doesn't see it.

I used it on a tear in my awning about 10 inches long in the center when the awning was rolled up. I applied the tape on the outside first and then on the underside. Had no problem and it was still that way a year later when I traded it off. It was a clear awning repair tape and you could not tell it was repaired unless you were looking for it.

I've had the tape on a similar repair , 3 seasons , tear hasn't spread but tape is peeling , picked up new tape with a re-enforcement web in it. Hope to get a few more years because the rest of the awning is fine.
Make sure there is no wax on the aluminum and that the awning material is clean.
