Radio goes off & on

My Kenwood keeps turning on & off, the volume has to be very low & then it will stay on.
I think it has something to do with overheating from the speakers?

If the amplifiers of radio are over heating the radio may have a fail safe to cut them, speakers, off.
If all power leads are tight + &-- 12v should not happen.
Your under warranty have dealer replace the radio,

007,
I still own my 2005 Windsor, putting it on consignment & trying to repair everything that I have neglected to fix over the years.
I was wondering if I could isolate the speaker or the amplifier that is causing the over heating & dis-connect it or if that's even possible.
Thanks for the reply.

I had a DVD/entertainment combo that did the same thing. It was a short in the sub woofer wire (after warranty replaced the unit three times I discovered this myself), so the diagnosis seems correct. Your radio is probably fine just doing what it was designed to do.

Can you disconnect wires from the backs of the speaker one at a time to find the bad one?
