Ramco Mirror Arm Stuck
I need to remove the mount cover for my Ramco mirror to tighten the mounting bolts, but the arm is stuck in the mount. I've removed the 9/16 bolt, dribbled some WD40 in the junction of the arm and mount, tapped gently with my rubber mallet, but she's stuck tight. Any ideas?

The original bolt goes in 10 revolutions and the washers meet the mount. The 6" sacrificial bolt goes in 31 revolutions and stops. Is it hitting the underside of the chrome trim on top of the arm, or reaching the top of the threaded pocket? I don't want to punch a hole in the arm.

I don't think I need to. I'm taking the arm, with head attached, off the mount. The allen screws hold the mirror head on the arm.

TonyMac-
As I said in the post for which I provided a link, the longer bolt had one inch of threads. This is less than the thickness of the arm the pivot, so I did not worry about punching through the upper surface of the arm. Perhaps your bolt has a longer thread section.
In any case, you don't have to bottom out the bolt in the pivot to use it to "persuade" the am to move. It is (I think) better to bottom it out, if you can; otherwise, the shock is transferred entirely to the threads in the arm, rather than the entrance to the threaded section. Too much hammering, though, and the threads will deform.

The pivot rusts tight. Use lots of muscle to get free. Once free grease everything.

After a half dozen turns you are not going to hurt the threads. Back the arm with a bigger hammer/weight and hit the longer bolt. Not sure why it’s a sacrificial bolt as hitting the head is not going to hurt it or the threads.
