Rear Camera Question

I purchased my first class A last year. We have only had a few opportunities for short outings, so I am still exploring and learning.
I think I have figured most everything out... or learned from this forum (thanks!).

One question for the well seasoned class A owners, regarding the rear camera:
The rear camera has a gap around the camera... probably about a 1/4 inch, which is plenty big enough to allow water, dirt/dust, or insects to get inside the rear cap.
I had wondered if the rear camera had been worked on or replaced and a seal around the camera was left off.
Since discovering the gap around the camera, I have been noticing the rear camera on other MH's (Cornerstone & Winnegago Tour) I see on the road. The camera on these other MH's have the same gap around the camera.
This doesn't look right to me. Where the camera is mounted is at an angle, so water should not run in... it would have to blow in. I park inside, but if parked outside, wasp and other insects would get in and make a home.

So, does anyone else see this as a problem?

In my Southwind, there is also a gap. However, the cap, the back end of the motorhome, isn't the back wall of the MH. I can climb underneath and look up between the cap and the back wall is a 9 inch gap.

Its pretty dirty up there.

I'm replacing my original B&W camera and monitor with a color camera and monitor.

The open camera cover is facing down on an angle, should not pose a problem. Just replaced the Camera Bracket due to moisture, but camera is waterproof, works great and 15 years old! Click image for larger version
