Rear view camera

I want to install a rear view camera and at the back of my 2001 national surfside RV. At the back of the rv near the top was a housing (for a camera) which I removed. There is a 1" x 3" indentation in the body. Could there be power located there as well as the wiring for video, if I cut a hole there?

It's a toss up...50-50 chance. You could check inside the rig first before you drill a hole.

I doubt if they ran the wiring harness for the camera, which would need both a signal and power cable. Besides, the camera and monitor you add will probably have their own unique cables and connectors on each end. They are seldom standard video cables.


Just drop the camera cables down behind the rear cap, then under the coach to the front and in through the floor or firewall to wherever you mount the monitor.

Have you looked into a 'wireless' alternative before cutting holes?

I believe all National Coaches pre pre-wired for a rearview camera. From inside the coach in the bedroom, you should be able to access the panel and see if there is power wiring. The coax cables will need to be fished through.
