Rear view camera rewire

Hello all! I have a 2005 Allegro Bus 42 QDP with a pc built into the front console and a computer monitor that displays either the rear view or the computer output, selected with a switch. It also connects to right and left cameras that activate when the turn signals are used. I would prefer to simply have the rear camera on all the time and disable the right and left turn signal switch. Has anyone out there done such a thing?

I have a Thor ACE. There is a switching device somewhere in the dash. It switches camera inputs depending on turn signal switch status. I have never located this device. If yours has this you could disconnect the turn signal inputs to it and the screen would show the default rear camera.

Yes. And I can save you a lot of aggravation if you just call me. Otherwise there is a box behind the monitor that controls the display. You need to get to that box and basically wire around the box. I have a solution on mine and I will send you some pictures. 702-340- two four five five.

I took a picture of the setup that I have on my QDP. I have 3 screens that run on 12volts and the camera input plugs right into the input of the screens. I thought that the archaic way in which the display would eventually show up after you put on your turn signal was a little too late to matter. So, I have mine on all the time. I also have a camera on WIFI located in the toad so that I can monitor the sounds in the toad as I am driving. Here is the picture of the dash.

I did something similar. There is a video switcher somewhere (location varies but follow the wiring). I now have 2 monitors .... one for the rearview camera and a 2nd that displays left/right/TripTek. GPS is a 3rd standalone.

Here is the wiring for the camera end. It is a 6 pin connector and it can be stripped back to expose the individual wires.

Pin 1 is shield or camera ground.
Pin 2 is white and it goes to video out or the + video
Pin 3 is green audio ground.
Pin 4 is red audio out.
Pin 5 is black ground.
pin 6 is white power.

I am not sure of the colors, it has been quite a while since I did this. But here are some pictures of a schematic and you will notice that the schematic is in a round circle the same way the picture of the circuit board is. Strip the black wire back and you can wire up the power to 12v and the video signal can go directly to the monitor. Here is what I used for a monitor. I found this monitor system and video on all the time is a much superior arrangement for situation awareness and safety.
