To each his own about deciding between the two rad types but after reading sooooo many RV side rad repair horror story threads in the past and the couple linked in this thread, I'm very happy I have the rear rad. Only stories I recall about the rear rad is the Freightliner surge tank leaks (and that's not the rad), overheating due to older RVs slobber tubes (and there's a fix for that), and limited access to the engine...which can be overcome in most situations.
What would worry me about the side rad is the potential for hot oil being sprayed up on the hot engine area from a leak, causing a fire, exacerbated by road wind when driving. I've been searching for salvage parts lately and I sure saw a lot of big RVs with fires in that area.
